Culver baseball drops Hoosier North opener in 5 innings to Winamac

Winamac 16, Culver 5 (5 innings, Tuesday): Jonas McCuen had two hits and a run scored, and Reese Herrell had a hit and an RBI, but Culver lost to visiting Winamac in their Hoosier North opener Tuesday.

Derek McKee also had a hit for the Cavaliers.

Hayden Parker and Braiden Molebash each walked twice.

Jonas McCuen took the loss on the mound after allowing eight hits and eight runs (six earned) in 3 ⅓ innings. He walked four and struck out four.

Caleb McCuen allowed two hits and three earned runs in one inning. He walked one, hit a batter and struck out three. Cameron Whitworth pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed five hits and five earned runs. He walked two and struck out none.

Maddox Bucinski singled, doubled and had five RBIs for Winamac. Wyatt Wheeler struck out 10 in four innings.

Already leading 8-2, Winamac scored eight runs in the top of the fifth.
