Culver boys basketball briefs: Ortiz scores 18 in loss to Northfield

Ortiz, King, Zehner score in double figures in win over LaCrosse

Boys basketball

Northfield 61, Culver 52 (Tuesday): Emiliano Ortiz scored a game-high 18 points, but the visiting Cavaliers lost to Northfield Tuesday.

Braxton Conley added eight points, Owen Clingler had six, Auston Zehner and Mason Herbert had five points each, Marquez Anderson had four, and Shane Shuman and Ethan Keller had three points each.

Clayton Tomlinson scored 16 points, Jayden Peas had 13, and Dillon Tomlinson had 11 for Northfield.

Northfield led 19-9 after one quarter and 29-19 at halftime.

Culver 58, LaCrosse 42 (Saturday): Emiliano Ortiz scored 21 points to lead three Culver players in double figures in a home win over sectional rival LaCrosse Saturday.

Jalen King added 16 points, and Auston Zehner had 10 for the Cavaliers (7-12).

Owen Clingler added seven, and Braxton Conley and Marquez Anderson had two points each.

Ben Garwood had 13 points, and Kyle Gorski added 12 for LaCrosse.

Culver led 28-15 at halftime.

South Central (Union Mills) 35, Culver 30 (Feb. 18): Owen Clingler scored 13 points, but Culver lost at home to South Central Feb. 18.

Emiliano Ortiz added eight, Braxton Conley had four, Auston Zehner had three, and Jalen King had two.

Trent Hudspeth scored 12, and 6-8 center Brendan Carr added 11 for the Satellites.

South Central trailed 30-27 but closed the game on an 8-0 run.

Culver led 24-21 after three quarters.
