Gotshall named Hoosier North MVP, joins 5 other Pioneer players on all-conference first team

Winamac’s Gearhart sisters, Perry, Sheets, Goodman, Caston’s Scales, Zimpleman, Mollenkopf, Culver’s Pearl also recognized

Softball

Pioneer’s Hailey Gotshall was named Hoosier North MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches.

Gotshall was one of six players from the Class 2A state champions to be named first-team all-conference. Hailey Cripe, Mackenzie Walker, Madison Blickenstaff, Mackenzie Robinson and Kylie Farris were the other five. Freshman Brooklyn Borges earned honorable mention status.

Also, five Winamac players, three Caston players and one Culver player made the first team.

Winamac players making the first team included Ella Gearhart, Aubrey Gearhart, Alexis Sheets, Catie Perry and Emma Goodman. Freshman Maggie Smith made honorable mention.

Isabel Scales, Addison Zimpleman and Kinzie Mollenkopf of Caston made the first team with junior Maddi Smith making honorable mention.

Culver’s Maegan Pearl made the first team.

Gotshall hit .591 with 19 homers and 72 RBIs. Her 19 homers ranked third in the state, and her 72 RBIs led the state. She also went 19-2 with a 1.10 ERA in the circle and 231 strikeouts in 133 innings.

Cripe led the state in homers with 23 and was third in RBIs with 62. She also went 15-0 with a 0.32 ERA in the circle.

Pioneer won the conference with a 7-0 record. Winamac was second at 6-1, Caston was third at 5-2, and Culver was seventh with a 1-6 mark.
