Pearl has 2 hits, but Culver softball’s season ends vs. Westville

Softball

Westville 7, Culver 0 (Monday): Maegan Pearl had two hits, and Luci Overmyer and Marissa Milam had one hit each for Culver in a loss to Westville in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 quarterfinal at Westville Monday.

Kayleigh Fritch took the loss in the circle, allowing eight hits and five runs (four earned) in 4 ⅓ innings. She walked four and struck out two.

A.J. Hinds allowed four hits and two earned runs in 2 ⅔ innings of relief. She had no walks or strikeouts.

Freshman Kierstin Vargas pitched a four-hit shutout with no walks and 10 strikeouts for Westville.

Kiersten Vaughan had a single, two doubles and an RBI for the Lady Blackhawks at the plate.

Culver finished 4-13.

Westville scored a run in the top of the second inning and two more in the third. They addedfour in the fifth.

Westville will play Argos, who received a bye, in the semifinals.
