The Winamac baseball team won at home over conference and sectional rival North Judson 9-7 Thursday to clinch the outright Hoosier North title.

Winamac had already clinched a share of the title coming into the day. Caston was hoping to share it with the Warriors, but the Winamac’s win eliminated Caston from title contention.

Winamac built a 9-4 lead after four innings and held on despite North Judson scoring three runs in the top of the sixth.

Winamac finished 13-1 in conference play. Their only loss was a 10-6 loss to North Judson on May 2. A rainout on May 3 postponed this game by 16 days.

Winamac and North Judson could meet for a third time in the sectional final at Boone Grove on May 30.

Caston routed Triton 15-1 in five innings in another conference game Thursday. Caston finished 12-2 in the conference with both losses coming to Winamac.

Winamac shared the conference title in 2021 with Pioneer, North Judson and LaVille.
