Boys basketball

Tri-County 52, Pioneer 32 (Feb. 23): Drew McKaig scored 12 points, and Lucas Perry added 10 for the host Panthers in a loss to Tri-County at The Cage on Feb. 23.

Brayden Erickson added a pair of 3-pointers for six.

Koby Bahler had 20, Eric Zarse had 13, and Riley Hughes had 11 for Tri-County.

Tri-County made more free throws (15) than Pioneer attempted (12).

Tri-County led 18-17 at halftime before Zarse and Bahler scored six points each in the third quarter to extend the lead to 32-26.

Pioneer was held to one field goal in the fourth quarter.

This marked Pioneer’s first win over Knox since Feb. 7, 2017.

Pioneer trailed 29-23 after three quarters but outscored Knox 22-6 in the fourth quarter.

Caston 56, Pioneer 47 (Jan. 26): Drew McKaig scored 13 points, including the 1,000th point of his career, and Shiloh Rine had 11 off the bench, but the Panthers lost a Hoosier North road game to Caston on Jan. 26.

McKaig came into the game with 987 career points. He got to 1,000 on a field goal in the fourth quarter. He is the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000. Trey Waddups, a 2018 grad, is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,213.

Rine had seven points in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Stinson had 30 for Caston, including nine in the fourth quarter.

Caston led 19-4 after the first quarter.

Caston also beat Pioneer 63-34 in the Cass County Invitational consolation game on Dec. 1.

Pioneer has lost the last five meetings against Caston.
