Argos boys basketball briefs: Richard scores career-high 28 in rout over West Central

Dragons put 4 in double figures in OT win over North Judson

Argos 83, West Central 33 (Tuesday): Michael Richard scored a career-high 28 points, and Dylan Kindig added 16, and J.J. Morris added 14 for Class 1A, No. 11 Argos in a road win over West Central Tuesday.

Kindig hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Teddy Redinger had seven, Jake Stults had five, Kayden Brady had five, Sean Richard had three, Elijah Osborn had three, and Caden Nifong had two.

Argos led 46-24 at halftime.

Argos won their eighth straight game to improve to 16-4.

West Central lost their 45th consecutive game dating back to February 2019.

Argos moves up to No. 11: Argos moved up from No. 12 to No. 11 in this week’s Associated Press Class 1A boys basketball poll. They are the only Hoosier Plains team and the only Sectional 50 team recognized in this week’s poll.

Argos (4-0) has already clinched a share of the Hoosier Plains title. They can clinch it outright with a home win over Elkhart Christian Friday.

Argos 60, North Judson 55 (OT, Friday): Dylan Kindig scored 17 points, including four of Argos’ seven points in overtime, to lead four players in double figures in a home win over North Judson at Phil Weybright Gymnasium Friday.

Kindig broke a 55-55 tie and put Argos ahead for good with a half-hook in the lane with 1:15 left in overtime. He added two free throws with 2.2 seconds left.

J.J. Morris added 14, Michael Richard had 13, Jake Stults had 11, and Teddy Redinger had five.

Argos led 32-22 at halftime. The game was tied at 43 after three quarters and 53 after regulation.

Stults hit four of six free throws in the final 1:30 of regulation, including two free throws with 0.3 seconds left, to force overtime after North Judson had a 53-49 lead.
