Kadyn Baughman doubled twice, singled and drove in six runs to lead the Argos softball team to an 11-6 win over Culver in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 semifinal at LaCrosse Saturday.
Argos improved to 6-13 and earned a spot in the sectional final against No. 5 South Central (Union Mills) immediately following. South Central reached the final with a 12-0 win in five innings over Triton on Thursday.
Culver, who was coming off an 18-5 win in five innings over South Bend Career Academy in their quarterfinal on Wednesday, finished 4-19.
Allison Zahm, Ava Stackhouse, Carleigh Miller and Makena Lineberry each added a hit and an RBI. Carlie Rex and Aleasia Sarver each had singles.
Rex and Zahm scored three runs each, and Stackhouse scored twice.
Zahm got the win in the circle after pitching a seven-hitter. She allowed three earned runs, walked four and struck out 10.
Argos committed four errors which led to three unearned runs for Culver.
Argos held on after building an 8-1 lead after four innings.
Culver stats were not made available to RTC.
Neither Argos nor Culver has ever won a softball sectional title.
