Class 1A, Sectional 36

The Argos boys soccer team will play North Miami in a Class 1A, Sectional 36 quarterfinal on their home field, according to the IHSAA draw released Monday.

Argos is in search of their 10th straight sectional title and their second straight Class 1A state title. They have won the sectional title ever since the IHSAA divided up its soccer-playing schools by class in 2011.

Argos is also currently ranked No. 1 in the state.

North Miami (0-10-1) is winless on the season.

The Argos-North Miami winner will play Caston in the semifinals. Caston did not play Argos during the regular season. Their most recent game against Argos was a 6-0 loss in last year’s sectional final. Caston has a 2-0 win over North Miami on Sept. 15.

In the other half of the bracket, Culver will play Winamac. The teams found out they would play each other just moments after Culver beat Winamac 1-0 in penalty kicks Monday night.

Culver has won six games this season after going winless last season.

Class 2A, Sectional 22

If the Rochester and Tippecanoe Valley teams were to meet in Class 2A, Sectional 22, they would have to drive all the way to Fort Wayne to make it happen. And it wouldn’t occur until the sectional final.

RHS drew Manchester, and those teams will meet at 7:15 p.m. Monday. It’s a rematch of the Sept. 8 meeting at Brent Blacketor Memorial Sports Complex that Manchester won 3-0.

That turned out to be RHS’ only TRC loss.

Manchester won the TRC outright last year and followed it up with a sectional title.

The RHS-Manchester winner will play the Culver Academy-Fort Wayne Canterbury winner in the semifinals.

In the other half of the draw, Valley will play Fort Wayne Concordia in the semifinals. Concordia is 12-2 with their only losses occurring against Fort Wayne South Side and Fort Wayne Snider. They are ranked No. 3. They are the only ranked team in the sectional.

Canterbury High School is located at 3210 Smith Road, Fort Wayne.
