Brooke named Hoosier North MVP, joins Cripe on first team

Caston’s Scales, Smith, Zimpleman, Culver’s Peterson also make first team

Pioneer junior point guard Ashlynn Brooke has been selected Hoosier North MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media.

Brooke led the state with her 25.9 ppg scoring average and her 98 made 3-pointers. Brooke also averaged 3.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.8 steals per game.

She was one of six RTC area players to make the first team. Three others earned honorable mention status.

Teammate Hailey Cripe joined Brooke on the first team. Cripe averaged 18.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 2.8 apg and 2.6 spg.

Caston’s Isabel Scales, Maddi Smith and Addison Zimpleman all made the first team.

Scales led Caston in scoring (14.2 ppg), rebounding (5.1 rpg) and assists (3.8 apg).

Smith averaged 12.2 ppg, 5 rpg and 1.2 apg, and her 33-point effort against Pioneer on Dec. 14 was a single-game high for any Caston player this season.

Zimpleman averaged 7.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 1.9 apg.

Culver’s Rose Peterson also made the first team. Peterson was Culver’s leading scorer, and she scored a career-high 37 points against Triton in a sectional quarterfinal game on Feb. 5.

Players earning honorable mention status included Caston’s Bailey Harness and Pioneer’s Kylie Attinger and Brooklyn Borges.

Pioneer won the conference with a 7-0 record. No Hoosier North team won their sectional.
