Rochester junior Madilyn Calloway finished in 52nd place out of 205 runners at the IHSAA state finals at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross-Country Course in Terre Haute Saturday.

Calloway ran a 19:37. Her time was 30 seconds slower than her semistate time at New Prairie one week earlier and 39 seconds slower than her 2019 state time at the same Terre Haute course.

RHS, who won the Three Rivers Conference and placed third at sectionals, fourth at regionals and 13th at semistate, had no seniors on its team this year.

Lowell’s Karina James won the individual state title in 18:00. Carmel won the team state title with 52 points. It’s Carmel’s eighth state title in the last 11 years.

Columbus North won the boys team state title with 63 points. Angola’s Izaiah Steury won the individual state title in 15:23.
