Cooksey scores game-high 18 as Valley keeps Elkhart winless

Tippecanoe Valley 53, Elkhart 41 (Friday): Ian Cooksey hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead three players in double figures as Valley beat visiting Elkhart at Rita Price Simpson Court Friday.

Riley Shepherd drained two treys and added 12, and Stephen Akase added 10.

Valley outscored Elkhart 19-7 in the second quarter to take a 23-15 halftime lead. They extended the lead to 42-28 after three quarters.

Valley, who was playing for the first time in 10 days, won their third straight game and improved to 9-5. Elkhart is 0-13, and they have lost 19 straight games dating back to last season.
