Culver’s Kennedy Jackson finished 15th in the shot put with a throw of 39-8 at the IHSAA state finals at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington Saturday.
Bloomington North’s Hadley Lucas won the state title for the second straight year with a throw of 49-5. Whitko’s Gwen Howard was sixth with a throw of 43-11 ¾.
Jackson’s top throw at the Goshen regional was 40-2 and was good for third place and the state trip. That was also a new Culver school record.
Jackson is the first Culver girls track athlete to qualify for state since 2014.
Jackson finished 20th with a throw of 37-1 ¼ at the 2022 state finals when she competed for Rochester.
She will continue her academic and athletic careers at Grand Valley State next year.
Noblesville won the team state title with 45 points. Runner-up Warren Central had 44.
