Culver’s Shuman, Ortiz join Caston’s Schanlaub on all-Hoosier North team

Boys basketball
Three RTC area boys basketball players were selected first-team all-Hoosier North in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media.
Culver seniors Shane Shuman and Emiliano Ortiz and Caston’s Cain Schanlaub all received first-team honors.
In addition, Caston junior Caleb Stinson, Culver senior Ethan Keller and Pioneer junior Drew McKaig earned honorable mention status.
Ortiz averaged a team-high 13.3 points per game. He also averaged 3.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2 steals per game.
Shuman was second on the team in scoring (11.6 ppg) and also averaged a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game.
Schanlaub averaged 11.3 ppg and a team-high 5.2 rpg. He also averaged 1.5 blocks per game.
Stinson led Caston in both scoring (11.5 ppg) and assists (3 apg), and he was second on the team with his 4.9 rebounds per game from his point guard spot.
Keller averaged 6.1 ppg, a team-high 4.5 assists per game and 3 steals per game.
McKaig led the Panthers in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), assists (3 apg) and steals (2.8 spg) per game.
Kelson Jordan of Hoosier North champion North Judson was named the conference MVP. The Blue Jays went 7-0 in league play.
