E. Howdeshell goes 5 for 5, Haughs homers as Lady Zs improve to 2-0

Rochester 16, Plymouth 4 (5 innings, Thursday): Emma Howdeshell went 5 for 5 with three doubles and two RBIs, and Sydney Haughs homered, walked four times and had three RBIs for the visiting Lady Zs in a win over Plymouth Thursday.

Rochester had 21 hits, 10 of which went for extra bases. They also drew eight walks.

Aubrey Miller went 4 for 4 with two singles, two doubles and two RBIs. Kylie Coleman had three extra base hits – two doubles and a triple – and two RBIs.

Maddie Heinzmann and Kallie Watson each had two hits and two RBIs. Darah Strasser had a double and two RBIs.

Mia Howdeshell had two hits and an RBI at the plate and also pitched three scoreless innings for the win. She allowed two hits but faced the minimum nine batters.

Mylee Heinzmann contributed a single and a walk.

Emma Howdeshell pitched the final two innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs. She walked two and fanned three.

Rochester jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings. Leading 10-2 after four innings, they scored six more runs in the fifth to invoke the 10-run rule.

Rochester will travel to Pioneer for a three-way doubleheader that will also include Carroll (Flora) at 10 a.m. Saturday.
