Evan Elliott homered and singled and drove in two runs, and Tarick McGlothin also had two RBIs to lead the Rochester baseball team to an 8-2 win over host North Miami in the Three Rivers Conference finale for both teams Thursday.
Tanner Reinartz pitched the first four innings and allowed two earned runs and received a no-decision. He also contributed a walk and an RBI at the plate.
Ethan Medina and McGlothin combined for three hitless innings with seven strikeouts to close out the game. Medina was credited with the win.
Luke Hunting also had two hits and two runs scored. Hunter Campbell singled, walked twice and scored a run.
Trevor Simons hit a solo homer as part of North Miami’s two-run first inning. Joey Horn also had a hit and an RBI.
North Miami pitchers combined to walk eight and hit a batter. North Miami also committed four errors.
Rochester has won the last four TRC meetings with North Miami dating back to 2018 by a combined score of 39-3.
Rochester improved to 15-5 overall and finished TRC play 7-2. North Miami dropped to 9-10, 4-5 TRC.
Rochester was scheduled to play in the Twin Lakes Classic against Lebanon and Tippecanoe Valley on Saturday, but the tournament was canceled due to rain.
The Zebras will play Wabash in a Class 2A, Sectional 37 quarterfinal at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wabash.
