Gearharts go deep as Winamac beats Lewis Cass in 6

Winamac boys track wins 3-way meet, girls take 2nd

Softball

Winamac 13, Lewis Cass 3 (6 innings, Friday): Ella Gearhart had four hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs, and she also pitched three hitless innings in the circle for the host Lady Warriors in a win over Lewis Cass Friday.

Aubrey Gearhart singled, doubled, homered and had two RBIs. Emma Goodman, Catie Perry, Kaya Campbell and Samantha Perry had two hits each.

Campbell, Samantha Perry, Catie Perry and Alexis Sheets had one RBI each.

McKenzie Hinz singled and drove in two runs and also got the win in the circle after allowing three runs over three innings.

Already leading 7-3, Winamac scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

Winamac has won four straight games.

Rensselaer 21, Winamac 3 (5 innings): Tyler Perry and Hayden Clark each had a single and an RBI, but host Winamac lost to sectional rival Rensselaer in five innings Friday.

Mitchell Bonnell, Caleb Good, Russell Compton and Dylan Brown also had singles.

Mitchell Bonnell allowed eight hits and 10 earned runs in 3 ⅓ innings. He walked three and struck out two.

Austin Francis doubled and homered for Rensselaer.

Rensselaer built a 9-1 lead after two innings. He also allowed one earned run in three innings for the win.

Winamac 12, Oregon-Davis 2 (6 innings, Thursday): Caleb Seymour went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored for Winamac in a home rout of Oregon-Davis Thursday.

Carter Field had a hot and two RBIs, and Mitchell Bonnell had a hit and an RBI. Dylan Brown also had a hit. Hayden Clark scored three runs, and Bonnell scored twice.

Seymour pitched a seven-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

Connor Danford hit a two-run homer in the first for O-D.

Triton 72, Winamac 65, Culver 23 (girls, Thursday)

Winamac 110, Triton 34, Culver 21 (boys, Thursday)

Winamac won 13 of the 16 events to win a three-way boys meet at Culver Thursday.

Individual Winamac winners included Kolbey Wegner, who won the 1,600 and 3,200; Shaun Pratt, who won the 200 and 400; Carson Bennett, who won the 800; Cristian Cardenas, who won the 110 hurdles; John Malchow, who won the 300 hurdles; Brayden Lynch, who won the long jump; Kyle Olds, who won the shot put; and Jason Tankersley, who won the pole vault.

Winamac also swept all three relays. Pratt, Malchow, Chase Keller and Sawyer DePoy won the 4 x 100 relay. Malchow, Bennett, Evan Eaton and Keller teamed up to win the 4 x 400 relay. The 4 x 800 relay consisted of Tankersley, Bennett, Eaton and Wegner.

In the girls meet, Triton prevailed despite Winamac’s Alexis Sheets winning the 100 and 200. Ariana Gualajara won the 800, and Kelsey Wegner won the 3,200.

Winamac also won the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.

Triton athletes swept all five field events.
