Walker, Aubrey Gearhart named second team, Sheets tabbed third team

Pioneer senior pitcher-shortstop Hailey Gotshall and junior pitcher-infielder Hailey Cripe and Winamac junior pitcher-catcher Ella Gearhart were all named Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Class 1A/2A First Team All-State.
In addition, Pioneer senior catcher Mackenzie Walker and Winamac senior pitcher-outfielder Aubrey Gearhart were named Class 1A/2A Second Team All-State and Winamac junior shortstop-pitcher Alexis Sheets was named to the third team.
Gotshall hit .591 with 19 homers and 72 RBIs. Her 19 homers ranked third in the state, and her 72 RBIs led the state. She also went 19-2 with a 1.10 ERA in the circle and 231 strikeouts in 133 innings.
Cripe led the state in homers with 23 and was third in RBIs with 62. She also went 15-0 with a 0.32 ERA in the circle.
Ella Gearhart batted .487 with 18 homers and 57 RBIs. Her home run total ranked fourth statewide. Gearhart also went 3-1 with a 2.13 ERA in 23 innings in the circle.
Walker hit .525 with 11 homers and 49 RBIs behind the plate for the Class 2A state champion Lady Panthers.
Aubrey Gearhart hit .430 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs. She also went 11-5 with a 4.31 ERA in the circle.
Sheets hit .485 with nine homers and 34 RBIs. She also went 2-1 with a 3.33 ERA in the circle.
Seven area players receive statewide academic honors
Seven RTC area softball players received academic ICGSA academic honors for the spring 2021 season.
Argos’ Madisyn Barcus, Caston’s Olivia Boldry and Rebekah Milburn, Pioneer’s Mackenzie Walker and Hailey Gotshall and Winamac’s Aubrey Gearhart were all selected ICGSA Academic All-State.
Pioneer’s Madison Blickenstaff was named Academic All-State Honorable Mention.
