Impressive Argos frosh Hines tops All-RTC list

The first ever all-RTC girls soccer team features a player in her first year of playing high school soccer.

That would be Argos’ Lilly Hines, who has soccer instincts and vision that is uncommon among any high school player, much less a freshman.

It would only be appropriate that we would pick an Argos player after their team’s run to semistate.

But having said that, we had a much improved Culver team led by a high-scoring trio and a Rochester team that had the best season in school history going before Argos ended it in the sectional.

All-RTC girls soccer

  • Lilly Hines (Argos) (Player of the Year) – A season of 14 goals and seven assists against Argos’ schedule was outstanding. We’re curious to see if she gets bigger and stronger and develops further.

  • Emma Dunlap (Argos) – We asked Argos coach Joe Stone if Dunlap wanted to follow in the footsteps of older sisters Courtney and Morgan. Stone said Emma wanted to set her own course. She did just that with a legendary performance at the regional.

  • Mercedes Brown (Rochester) – Brown led RHS with 13 goals despite most opponents marking her tightly.

  • Aryanna Allen (Argos) – Allen was another offensive force for the Lady Dragons.

  • Baleigh Binkley (Culver) – Binkley utilized her speed to score 28 goals on the year.

  • Gisselle Villegas (Culver) – Villegas scored 25 goals for the high-scoring Lady Cavaliers.

  • Tessa Brooks (Rochester) – The player known as “Ballstopper” Brooks was a top defender on a team that emphasized defense.

  • Madisyn Barcus (Argos) – Barcus was slick with the ball and worked well with Hines.

  • Lauren McGlothin (Argos) – McGlothin was superb at the sweeper spot. She was mobile, she was active, and she was a field general.

  • Kendyll Bradley (Rochester) – Bradley was indefatigable, running all over the place to stop opposing teams from stringing together rallies.

  • Kaillie Woods (Rochester) – Woods was the area’s top goalkeeper. She went from reliable to making several highlight-caliber stops per game.

Honorable mention

  • Madi VanDerWeele (Argos)

  • Samantha Redinger (Argos)

  • Cailey Markley (Argos)

  • Abbi Richard (Rochester)

  • Lizzy Edmonds (Argos)

  • Kaylee Hamilton (Culver)

  • Ellie Shank (Rochester)

  • Hannah Trump (Argos)

  • Macie Nelson (Rochester)

  • Amy Williams (Rochester)

  • Kenzie Banks (Culver)
