McCarter advances in state singles tournament

Rochester senior Grant McCarter defeated LaVille’s Kyle Walker 6-1, 6-0 at Peru High School Tuesday to advance to the next round in the IHSAA state singles tournament.

McCarter’s next opponent and the time and date of his next match are yet to be determined.

The RHS team was eliminated with a 4-1 loss to Culver Academy at the Knox sectional final Friday. However, No. 1 singles players may advance even if their team is eliminated as long as they remain undefeated.

McCarter beat opponents from Knox and Culver Academy at the team sectional.
