Girls basketball
Tippecanoe Valley 44, North Miami 28 (Dec. 9): Kaydence Mellott scored seven of her game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter, and Macy Petersen added 10 off the bench to lead the Valley girls basketball team to a Three Rivers Conference home win over North Miami on Dec. 9.
Valley outscored the Lady Warriors 21-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Valley made more free throws (14) than North Miami attempted (5).
Valley won their seventh straight game and improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the TRC. Valley is the lone remaining unbeaten team in conference play.
Valley also beat North Miami for the 15th consecutive year. They have not lost to North Miami since December 2007.
Allison Bowman hit three 3-pointers and led North Miami (6-2, 2-1) with 11 points.
Valley also won the JV game 40-7. Gabby Gonzalez led with 10 points, and Lydia Craig, Millie Scorsone and Dalynne Bussard had six each.
