Mellott scores 15, helps Valley knock out NorthWood

Tippecanoe Valley 33, NorthWood 30 (Tuesday): Kaydence Mellott scored 15 points, and Molly Moriarty added seven to lead the Lady Vikings past NorthWood in a Class 3A, Sectioonal 20 quarterfinal at NorthWood Tuesday.

Corinna Stiles had five points. Chesnee Miller and Lily Ault scored three points each, all in the fourth quarter.

The game was tied 11-11 at halftime. Valley led 21-17 after three quarters and built the lead to eight in the fourth quarter before holding on.

Valley improved to 16-7 and will meet Wawasee in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Valley lost to Wawasee 53-45 on Jan. 25 in their regular season meeting at Valley.
