A wrestler may wrestle as soon as 30 minutes after his or her previous match ended, according to rules revisions that the National Federation of State High School Associations Wrestling Rules Committee passed at its April 2-4 meeting in Indianapolis.
Previously, a wrestler had to wait at least 45 minutes before wrestling again.
“The committee said the sentiment was that 30 minutes was sufficient rest between matches,” the NFHS said in a statement.
The NFHS will also allow wrestlers up to six matches in a day; the previous maximum was five in a day. Still, wrestlers may only wrestle in 10 matches over two consecutive days.
The six-match limit includes championship and consolation matches and excludes forfeits.
