Noveroske, Bowman combine on no-hitter in sectional win over Culver

Holly Noveroske and Lauren Bowmar pitched a combined no-hitter, and Bowmar doubled, homered and drove in six runs for No. 1 South Central (Union Mills) in a 10-0 win over Culver in a Class 1A, Sectional 50 semifinal at South Central Wednesday.

A.J. Hinds drew a walk for Culver, who scored 21 runs on 19 hits the previous day in a quarterfinal win over Triton.

Hinds took the loss in the circle. She allowed seven hits and 10 runs in five innings. She walked three and struck out none. Culver also committed five errors which led to six unearned runs.

Noveroske, who had pitched a five-inning no-hitter the previous day against Argos in the quarterfinals, pitched the first four innings and struck out seven this time. Bowmar struck out one in a hitless fifth.

South Central will play LaCrosse, a 13-1 winner over South Bend Career Academy on Thursday, in the final at 1 p.m. Eastern Saturday.

Culver finished 7-17 in coach Bill Moise’s first season. South Central improved to 23-5.
