Ortiz’ 28 help Culver knock off LaVille

Culver 65, LaVille 54 (Jan. 27): Emiliano Ortiz scored a game-high 28 points to lead three Culver players in double figures in a Hoosier North home win over LaVille at John R. Nelson Gymnasium on Jan. 27.

Shane Shuman added 20 points, Joey Pizur notched 13, and Ethan Keller had four.

Collin Czarnecki scored 16 to lead LaVille, and Lucas Plummer had 14.

Culver led 28-24 at halftime and 43-38 after three quarters.

Culver improved to 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the Hoosier North. LaVille had their five-game winning streak snapped – that included three games in the Bi-County Tournament the previous week – and fell to 8-7, 2-3.

LaVille has not won at Culver since 2019.
