Argos assistant boys soccer coach Elmer Roque said in a series of tweets that he will become the new head coach at Rochester.
Roque would replace Trevor Brown, who was removed as coach as on April 29.
Roque spent the last five years as JV coach at Argos. He was on the sideline when Argos won the 2019 Class 1A state title and was the 2020 state runner-up.
Roque’s younger brother Chino scored both Argos goals in a 2-1 over Indianapolis Lutheran in the 2019 state title game at Fishers High School.
“After discussing with some close friends and family, we all felt like I am ready to take the next step in my coaching career,” Roque tweeted. “So as of this fall, I will be the head coach for the Rochester boys varsity soccer team!”
No Rochester administrator has publicly acknowledged Roque’s tweets.
The next Rochester School Board meeting is June 21.
Argos boys soccer coach Todd VanDerWeele is the Rochester Schools business manager, a job he has held since July 2018.
