Girls track
Tippecanoe Valley sophomore Betty Shepherd broke the school record in the 300 hurdles while finishing in 18th place at the IHSAA girls track state finals at the Robert C. Haugh TRack and Field Complex in Bloomington Friday.
Shepherd’s time was 46.40 seconds. She broke 47 seconds for the first time. She had set the previous school record of 47.42 at the Bremen sectional on May 14.
Shepherd was seeded 26th coming into the meet.
Warren Central’s Laila Smith won the title in 43.35 seconds.
Warsaw’s Annabel Parker was 23rd in 46.70 seconds. Parker is Shepherd’s cousin.
Warren Central won the team title with 57.5 points.
