Southwood sweeps Caston in sectional semis

Southwood def. Caston, 25-18, 25-6, 25-7 (Saturday): The Caston volleyball team fell to Southwood in three sets in a Class 1A, Sectional 53 semifinal at Southwood Saturday.

Caston finished the season 25-8. They lost to Southwood in the sectional semifinals for the second straight year.

Caston has lost their sectional opener in 17 of the last 18 seasons.

Caston has never won a volleyball sectional title.

No. 7 Southwood improved to 28-3. They defeated Northfield 25-16, 25-19, 25-11 in the sectional final later Saturday.

Southwood will play Faith Christian in a regional semifinal at Faith Christian Saturday.
