Valley baseball wins regular season finale behind Pettit, Wallis

Tippecanoe Valley 8, Winamac 6 (May 22): Annikan Pettit singled and doubled and drove in three runs, and Hunter Craft, Markus Bernicky and Evan Myers each had a double and an RBI for the host Vikings in a win over Winamac in the regular season finale for both teams on May 22.

Valley led 5-0 after three innings and scored in every inning in which they batted.

Cody Smith added a single and an RBI, and Noah Prater and Taylor Wallis also had hits.

Wallis pitched the first five innings for the win, allowing two hits and no earned runs. He walked one and struck out five. Prater and Cameron Manuel followed with one inning each of relief.

Manuel allowed two hits in a scoreless seventh while striking out two for the save.

John Glenn blanks Valley baseball in sectional semis

Baseball

John Glenn 4, Tippecanoe Valley 0 (May 25): Hunter Craft, Cody Smith, Markus Bernicky and Evan Myers each had a single, but Valley lost to John Glenn in a Class 3A, Sectional 18 semifinal at Newton Park in Lakeville on May 25.

Craft also reached on a hit by pitch, and Annikan Pettit reached twice on a walk and a hit by pitch.

Cameron Manuel started and pitched five innings for Valley and took the loss. He allowed four hits and three runs (one earned) while walking two and striking out three. Markus Bernicky pitched two innings in relief and allowed three hits and one earned while walking one and striking out three.

Brycen Hannah and Joe Chrapliwy combined on a four-hit shutout for John Glenn.

New Prairie went on to win the sectional title with a 10-1 win over John Glenn on May 29.
