Softball records 18 hits in win over Winamac; baseball falls to Bremen

Girls tennis

Tippecanoe Valley 5, Knox 0 (Thursday): Both Lydia Miller and Talia Holder rallied from a set down to win at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, to lead Valley to a sweep over host Knox in coach Emily Ackerman’s debut as a varsity coach.

In addition, Madelyn Weaver won at No. 3 singles, Lily Ault and Andie Schwenger won at No. 1 doubles, and Brianna Feldman and Nataly Rodriguez won at No. 2 doubles for Valley, all in straight sets.

Miller rallied to beat Mallory McIntire 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Holder defeated Megan Timan 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Weaver beat Lauren Combs 6-4, 6-1. Ault and Schwenger knocked off Miranda McCarthy and Sam McGrath 6-0, 6-1. Feldman and Rodriguez beat Jimena Romero and Journey Weber 6-1, 6-3.

Valley also won the JV match 6-0.

Karegan Callahan-Ella Sandbakken (TV) won 8-2.

Sarah Finney-Joliann Gonzalez (TV) won 8-6.

Sienna Holder-Taylor Owens (TV) won 8-6.

Softball

Tippecanoe Valley 12, Winamac 4 (Thursday): Corinna Stiles hit a solo homer, and Mackaylie Costello and Molly Moriarty had three hits and an RBI each for Valley in a road win over Winamac at Winamac Town Park Thursday.

Madi Smith had a single, a triple and two RBIs. Brayden Baney had a single, a double and two RBIs. Costello also had a triple.

Mercedes Snapp singled and drove in two runs. Sydney Rhamey had a pair of hits. Stiles and Abby Bowers each had two hits and an RBI. Olivia Wilson had a hit.

Stiles pitched a five-hitter with five walks and 11 strikeouts for the win.

Valley scored four runs in the top of the third inning and never trailed.

Baseball

Bremen 9, Tippecanoe Valley 2 (Friday): Annakin Pettit doubled, and D.J. Estep and Damion Kohler each singled for Valley in a home loss to Bremen Friday night.

Kohler and Noah Prater each scored a run. Valley also drew seven walks, with Owen Kirchenstien and Pettit drawing two walks each, but also struck out 17 times.

Estep took the loss after allowing four runs in 3 ⅓ innings. He allowed four hits and walked three while striking out four.

Valley pitchers walked eight, and the Valley defense committed three errors which led to seven unearned runs for Bremen.
