visiting Golden Eagles earned the win in a Class 3A, Sectional 28 semifinal at Smith Bibler Memorial Field Home of Death Valley Football Friday.

Cody Eastgate also had a one-yard scoring run on a quarterback sneak in the third quarter for Valley, who finished 9-2. A 32-yard pass from Eastgate to Parker on the preceding play set up that score.

Justin Zdobylak ran for 258 yards and two touchdowns for Guerin Catholic, who improved to 7-4. Zdobylak had a 40-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to open the scoring and an 84-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-1 in the third quarter that extended the lead to 27-7.

Guerin Catholic quarterback Malcolm Houze threw two touchdown passes – one to Harrison Miller and one to Alex Gibbs – and added a six-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter.

No. 12 Guerin Catholic (7-4) will host No. 6 Indianapolis Chatard in the sectional final.

Guerin Catholic had 288 yards rushing and 485 yards of offense, the most of any Valley opponent this season.

Valley has not reached a sectional final since 1993 and not won a sectional since 1992. They have lost 13 consecutive sectional semifinals, 12 of which were played at home. They lost in the sectional semifinal round for the fifth straight year.

Culver 61, South Central (Union Mills) 0 (Friday): Shane Shuman ran for 117 yards and two touchdowns, and the Culver defense held the visiting Satellites to 81 yards of offense in a rout in a Class 1A, Sectional 41 semifinal Friday.

Jason Cadle ran for two touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass to Ryan Beem as part of a 32-point Culver eruption over a 7:29 span of the second quarter as Culver stretched the halftime lead to 48-0 and initiated a running clock as part of the IHSAA Mercy Rule for the second half.

Ryan Beem caught a 25-yard touchdown pass the first play after an Emilano Ortiz interception, and Ethan Binion and Ian Brown also had touchdown runs. Jonas McCuen threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Oliver Morgan in the fourth quarter on a pop pass.

Culver improved to 7-4 and knocked South Central out of the sectional for the second straight year and the fourth time in the last 10 years.

The Cavaliers will travel to North Judson next in the sectional final. The No. 4 Blue Jays eliminated Triton 25-6 in their semifinal.

Culver lost to North Judson 45-12 on Aug. 19 in the season opener. North Judson has knocked Culver out of the sectional each of the last three years.
