Week 12 roundup: North Judson blanks Culver, wins 3rd sectional in 4 years

North Judson 54, Culver 0 (Friday): Aldric Harper ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass for the host Blue Jays in a win over Culver in the Class 1A, Sectional 41 final Friday.

Cheyenne Allen ran for 84 yards and two touchdowns, and Brock Benson had 52 yards rushing and two touchdowns. North Judson had 344 yards rushing on 8.6 yards per carry.

Jesiah McDaniel caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Harper on fourth-and-goal in the second quarter.

No. 4 North Judson (11-1) also got a defensive score on Gabe Ellis’ 62-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the first quarter.

The Blue Jays scored 21 points in a 4:09 span covering the first and second quarters in building a 28-0 lead.

They led 40-0 at halftime.

Shane Shuman had 16 carries for 65 yards for Culver, who finished 7-5. Ethan Binion had two receptions for 18 yards. North Judson limited Culver to 105 yards of offense and forced four turnovers.

Steven Pugh had nine tackles on defense, and Oliver Morgan and Shuman had seven tackles each. Ben Lee had six stops.

North Judson beat Culver for the 10th straight time and knocked Culver out of the sectional for the fourth straight year. They also won their third sectional title in the last four years. They will travel to Park Tudor for the regional this Friday.

Culver has not won a sectional title since 2009. They are 0-5 in their last five sectional finals.
