LaVille (4-0, 3-0 Hoosier North) at Caston (0-4, 0-3), 7 p.m.
The Caston football averted a shutout by scoring in the fourth quarter of a 35-6 loss to Pioneer last week, but the Comets are averaging just under 10 points in starting 0-4.
A LaVille defense averaging just 11.3 points per game allowed might not be the tonic to what ails the Comets.
LaVille, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, has won 14 consecutive regular season games, and they are 8-0 against Caston with three shutouts since the schools became conference rivals in 2015.
Meanwhile, Caston has lost 18 consecutive games dating back to September 2021. Caston has not beaten a non-Class 1A team since a 20-15 win over Winamac on Oct. 5, 2012.
Jabez Yarber leads Caston with 258 yards rushing. Grant Yadon has a team-high 16 receptions for 158 yards, and he has also contributed to the ground attack with 15 carries for 85 yards.
Junior Cody Allen averages 152 yards per game on the ground for LaVille. Quarterback Lucas Plummer is a four-year starter who averages 101 yards passing per game at a 61 percent completion rate.
