Week 9 preview: Caston hopes to avoid winless regular season against Knox’s option

BY VAL TSOUTSOURIS

Sports Editor, RTC

Caston (0-8, 0-6 Hoosier North) at Knox (5-3, 4-2), 7:30 p.m.

Caston led Winamac 12-0 at one point in the second quarter before the Warriors rallied back to win 33-12 last week.

Caston ran the ball 36 times and threw it 26 times against Winamac, and it produced 287 yards of offense.

Freshman Jabez Yarber is an emerging running threat with 22 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown. Oliver Trigg had a team-high three receptions, and Josh Sullivan had a 36-yard reception.

They will face a Knox defense that allowed 229 yards rushing in a 38-32 win over Triton last week.

Kyle Roudebush had 11 yards rushing, 16 yards receiving and a team-high 13 tackles on defense against Winamac.

Roudebush and his defensive teammates might be busy against a Knox offense that is averaging 39 points per game.

Knox had 343 yards rushing against Triton, and freshman Myles McLaughlin led with 202 yards on 25 carries. Senior quarterback Cohen Watson added 77 yards on the ground.

Caston is 0-7 against Knox since the school became Hoosier North rivals in 2015, including a 19-6 loss at the Crater last year.
