Winamac sports brief: A.Gearhart’s 5 RBIs lift Winamac past Culver; E.Gearhart raises HR total to 11

Baseball scores 40 runs in 2 wins over Triton; Roudebush leading boys golf team

Winamac 12, Culver 1 (final, 5 innings, Tuesday): McKenzie Hinz pitched a four-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts, and Aubrey Gearhart singled, homered and had five RBIs for Winamac in a Hoosier North home win over Culver at Winamac Town Park Tuesday.

Ella Gearhart had a double and two RBIs, and Emma Goodman and Catie Perry had a hit and an RBI each.

Samantha Perry, Alexis Sheets, Kaya Campbell and Maggie Smith each had a hit.

Kaleigh Fritch had a double for Culver. Abbi Kisela, Kaylee Hamilton and Maegan Pearl had one hit each.

A.J. Hinds took the loss in the circle, allowing nine hits and seven earned runs in 4 ⅔ innings. She walked four and struck out none.

Culver committed five errors which led to five unearned runs.

Culver scored their run in the first inning, but Winamac countered with four runs in their half. They scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

Winamac 10, North White 1 (Monday): Catie Perry singled, doubled and drove in three runs, and Alexis Sheets and Aubrey Gearhart had two extra-base hits each for Winamac in a road win over North White Monday.

Sheets doubled twice, singled and drove in a run. Gearhart doubled, tripled and drove in a run.

Ella Gearhart, McKenzie Hinz and Emma Goodman had two singles and an RBI each. Kaya Campbell had a single and two RBIs.

Winamac scored three runs in the third to break a 1-1 tie, and they added three more in the fourth and seventh.

Sheets pitched a seven-hitter with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

Winamac moves up to No. 12: The Winamac softball team moved up three spots to a tie for No. 12 in this week’s Class 2A coaches poll. That is Winamac’s highest ranking of the season. Winamac is riding a four-game winning streak and is 12-3 for the season. They have scored 10 or more runs in nine of their 12 wins.

Winamac 14, Knox 8 (Friday): Ella Gearhart cranked her 10th and 11th homers of the season as part of Winamac’s 18-hit attack, and Kaya Campbell also had a single, double and homer for the visiting Lady Warriors in a Hoosier North win Friday.

Ella Gearhart went 4 for 5 with six RBIs and three runs scored. She also had a single and a double.

Alexis Sheets singled, doubled and had an RBI. Samantha Perry had two hits and an RBI. McKenzie Hinz and Aubrey Gearhart had two hits each.

Emma Goodman had a hit and two RBIs, and Catie Perry had a hit and an RBI.

Aubrey Gearhart allowed six runs in six innings in the circle for the win. She allowed eight hits and walked two while fanning nine. Ella Gearhart pitched the seventh and allowed two hits and two earned runs.

Winamac trailed 6-4 after two innings but scored three runs in the third to go ahead for good. They also scored three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Jayla Williams homered twice and drove in six runs for Knox.

Winamac 12, West Central 5 (Thursday): Ella Gearhart hit two homers and drove in three runs, and Alexis Sheets and Emma Goodman had three hits and three RBIs each for the Class 2A, No. 15 Lady Warriors in a win over Class 1A, No. 6 West Central at Winamac Town Park Thursday.

Goodman doubled and singled twice. Sheets homered, doubled and singled. Maggie Smith singled and doubled. Aubrey Gearhart had two singles and an RBI. Samantha Perry singled twice. McKenzie Hinz had a double and an RBI. Kaya Campbell had an RBI.

Ella Gearhart allowed four runs over five innings for the win. She allowed seven hits, walked none and struck out six. Aubrey Gearhart pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits and a run with one strikeout.

Lily Williams and Jaden Erb both homered for West Central, who led 4-3 going into the bottom of the fifth.

Winamac scored three runs in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead, and they added six more in the sixth.

Winamac 33, Triton 1 (5 innings, Tuesday): Freshman Wyatt Wheeler had five hits and five RBIs, and Russell Compton had five hits and four RBIs for the visiting Warriors in a Hoosier North road win over Triton Tuesday.

Caleb Seymour had four singles and seven RBIs. Caleb Good had three singles and a homer and drove in four runs.

Paxton Wallace had three hits and four RBIs, and Carter Field had three hits and two RBIs.

Hayden Clark went 2 for 3 with four runs scored. Mitchell Bonnell singled and drove in two runs, and Max Gearhart also had a hit. Max Murray had an RBI.

Winamac had 28 hits, drew seven walks and was hit by four pitches. They also stole six bases. They scored at least four runs in every inning, including 10 in the fifth.

Bonnell tossed a five-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts.

Triton committed eight errors which led to 13 unearned runs for Winamac.

Winamac 7, Triton 4 (Friday): Russell Compton pitched a seven-hitter with four walks and 10 strikeouts, and Caleb Seymour had a single, a walk and two RBIs for the Warriors as they beat visiting Triton in the first game of a two-game Hoosier North series.

Hayden Clark had a hit and an RBI, and Caleb Good, Tyler Perry, Dylan Brown, Wyatt Wheeler and Paxton Wallace each had a hit for Winamac.

Winamac committed five errors, which led to two unearned runs for Triton.

Triton led 4-1 after two innings before Winamac rallied.
