The Rochester boys basketball team clinched the outright Three Rivers Conference title Tuesday despite not playing.
Manchester’s 70-69 overtime loss to Whitko Tuesday eliminated the Squires from the conference title hunt. Manchester came into the game with a chance to share the conference title, but they needed to beat Whitko and beat Northfield at home Friday and hope that Rochester would lose to Maconaquah Friday.
The conference title is Rochester’s first outright TRC title. They shared the TRC title in 2007 and 2009. Rochester joined the TRC in 1987.
RHS moves up to No. 12: The Rochester boys basketball team moved up from No. 13 to a tie for No. 12 in this week’s Associated Press Class 2A poll.
Madison-Grant is also No. 12.
The Zebras are 15-1 overall and 8-0 in the TRC. They finish their regular season with a road game against Maconaquah Friday.
