Caston 17, North White 8 (April 14): Talon Zeider reached base six times – two walks, two singles, a double and a triple – and had three RBIs, and Edison Byrum had two singles and three RBIs for Caston in a road win over sectional rival North White April 14.

Noah Herd also had two hits and an RBI, and Gavin Mollenkopf had a single, a double and an RBI to go along with two walks.

Caleb Stinson had a hit and two RBIs, and Jackson Rentschler walked twice, drove in a run and scored a run.

Caston had 11 hits, walked 11 times and stole eight bases.

They trailed 4-3 after four innings before scoring five times in the fifth to take the lead for good.

Mollenkopf pitched the first five innings and garnered the win. He allowed two hits and five runs (all earned). He walked four and hit four batters and struck out 10.

Rentschler and Byrum each pitched an inning of relief with Byrum striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh.

The game featured 16 walks and 10 hit batters.

North White committed seven errors.

This was the teams’ first meeting since Caston’s 3-2 win over the Vikings on Pete DuVall’s walk-off homer in last year’s sectional semifinals.
