Caudill’s 2-run triple in 3rd gives Lady Vikes lead for good

Tippecanoe Valley 7, Argos 3 (Wednesday): Naomi Gaerte pitched a six-hitter with five walks and seven strikeouts, and she also had a pair of singles at the plate to lead Valley past host Argos Wednesday.

Temperance Caudill singled and tripled and drove in two runs, and Dalynne Bussard had three singles and an RBI for Valley (8-6). K.C. Shriver also had two hits. Kaitlyn Threlkel had a hit and an RBI, and Elise Smith and Kahlyn Manns had one hit each.

Adelyn Lewark and Ava Stackhouse had two hits each for Valley. Katherine Horta Suarez and Ella Dean had one hit each. Ava Stackhouse and Dean had one RBI each.

Ivy Stackhouse allowed 12 hits and four earned runs in taking the loss. She walked two and struck out five.

Argos led 2-0 after an inning before Valley came back. Valley trailed Knox 3-0 after one inning Tuesday and came back to win that game 9-4.

Caudill’s two-run triple highlighted a four-run third and gave Valley a 4-2 lead. Threlkel followed with an RBI single.

Argos committed six errors that led to three unearned runs.
