Four players from sectional champions Caston were named to the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 1A Honorable Mention All-State team.

The four players included sophomore center fielder-pitcher Logan Mollenkopf, sophomore first baseman London Herd, sophomore third baseman Parker Zimpleman and senior catcher Gavin Mollenkopf.

Logan Mollenkopf hit .416 with 21 RBIs and an 1.152 OPS at the plate, and he went 8-1 with a 3.13 ERA and just 30 hits allowed as compared to 71 strikeouts in 44 ⅔ innings on the mound.

Herd hit .434 with 28 RBIs and a 1.054 OPS.

Zimpleman hit .398 with four homers and 45 RBIs and an 1.137 OPS. Zimpleman tied for third in the state in RBIs.

Gavin Mollenkopf, a Bethel University signee, hit .432 with a homer and 21 RBIs and an 1.185 OPS. His 18 walks plus 14 hit-by-pitches gave him a .604 OPS.

Caston went 21-6 overall and 13-3 in the Hoosier North and won the Class 1A, Sectional 50 title.

To be eligible to be honored, a coach must be an IHSBCA member, and the coach must nominate the player. IHSBCA members do the voting.
