Culver girls soccer roundup: McCune’s 2 goals help Lady Cavs to 2-0 start

Culver 3, North Miami 1 (Saturday): Ava McCune, Bre Hamilton and Alexis Gasanovas scored in the second half to help the host Lady Cavaliers beat North Miami in their Hoosier North opener Aug. 23.

Laina Kling scored off a Porscha Pickett assist for North Miami.

The game was tied 0-0 at halftime. McCune opened the scoring with her second goal of the season in the 50th minute. Hamilton scored in the 63rd minute off an Abby Zehner assist.

Kling’s goal in the 71st minute made it 2-1.

Gasanovas completed the scoring off a Hamilton assist in the 75th minute.

Culver is 2-0, 1-0 Hoosier North. North Miami is 1-1-1, 0-1.

Culver 3, Peru 0 (Aug. 20): Ava McCune broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the first minute of the second half, and Eliana Andrzejewski and Bre Hamilton also scored for Culver in a season-opening road win over Peru Aug. 20.

Alyviah Williams had one save in goal for the shutout.
