Valley boys place 10th in Class AA race behind Marquez, Hammon

The Rochester girls cross-country team scored 187 points and finished eighth out of 13 teams in the Class A race at the New Haven Invitational at Huntington University Saturday.
Freshman Daniela Ochoa was 18th in 22:36 and was the Lady Z frontrunner. Adison Hayes, who was 38th in 24:13, was the other Rochester runner in the top 50 in the field of 132 runners.
Rochester competed without senior Allyson Calloway, who ran in the Class AA race instead and finished 14th in 21:37 in that race.

The other area team at New Haven was Tippecanoe Valley, who had an incomplete team in the girls AA race. McKenna Lowe was the Valley frontrunner in 25:13, which placed her 63rd in the field of 116.
Churubusco won the Class A girls race with 66 points, and West Noble won the Class AA girls title with 69 points.
In the boys Class A race, Rochester fielded an incomplete team. Leandro Javier was the fastest Zebra, taking 26th place out of 185 runners in 18:38.
In the boys Class AA race, Valley scored 302 points and took 10th place out of 13 complete teams. Christopher Marquez, who was 30th in 18:22, and Collin Hammon, who was 39th in 18:55, both finished in the top half of the field of 146 runners.
Monroe Central won the Class A boys team title with 101 points, and Oak Hill won the Class AA boys team title with 59 points.
