Girls golf
Tippecanoe Valley sophomore Savana Miller qualified for the IHSAA state finals after shooting a 76 at the East Noble regional at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville Friday.
Miller had the third lowest score among individuals on non-advancing teams. She also tied for the seventh lowest score among the 90 golfers in the regional field.
Homestead’s Caroline Burns (71) and NorthWood’s Sophie Richmond (71) also advanced as individuals.
DeKalb won the team title with a 309. Northridge (312) and Carroll (Fort Wayne) (322)
The top three teams and the top three individuals on non-advancing teams at the regional advance to state, which will be held at Prairie View Golf Club at Carmel. The two-day, 36-hole state tournament begins next Friday.
Miller was participating at the regional as an individual. She won medalist honors with a 74 at the Warsaw sectional Sept. 18, but the Valley team finished fifth and did not advance.
