Vikings beat Tipton in consolation, salvage 3rd at home holiday tourney

Boys basketball
Bremen 61, Tippecanoe Valley 37 (Friday): Owen Omondi scored 13 points for the Valley boys basketball team in an Indiana Northern State Conference road loss to undefeated Bremen Friday.
Hudson Shepherd added seven for the Vikings (4-7, 0-1 INSC).
Hartley Mitole scored a game-high 23 for Bremen (8-0, 2-0). Chase Devine added 12, and Riley Tener had 11.
Bremen jumped out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 33-19 at halftime.
This marked Valley’s first ever loss in INSC play. Valley went 5-0 in the conference last year.

Valley goes 1-1 at home tournament (Jan. 2): The Valley boys basketball team went 1-1 and finished in third place at its inaugural four-team home tournament Jan. 2.
Valley lost to Leo 44-39 in the first round before bouncing back to beat Tipton 45-43 in the consolation game.
Wes Parker scored 16 points in the win over Tipton. Owen Omondi and Hudson Shepherd added seven each.
Parker made more free throws (10) than Tipton attempted (nine).
In the loss to Leo, Kammerer hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead Valley. Omondi added 13.
Fort Wayne South Side won the tournament to improve to 12-0. They beat Tipton 62-47 in the first round and Leo 67-28 in the championship game.
