Valley’s Bussard named INSC MVP

Manns, Caudill, Threlkel, Costello join her on first team; M. Shriver named honorable mention

Dalynne Bussard

Tippecanoe Valley senior pitcher-infielder Dalynne Bussard has been named Indiana Northern State Conference MVP in voting done by the conference’s coaches and released to the media Tuesday.

In addition, Bussard was selected first-team All-INSC along with teammates Kahlyn Manns, Temperance Caudill, Kaitlyn Threlkel and Malaynie Costello. Minda Shriver was selected honorable mention all-conference.

Bussard went 12-4 with a 1.35 ERA and 210 strikeouts as compared to 27 walks in 119 ⅔ innings. As a hitter, she hit .418 with two homers and 26 RBIs and a 1.050 OPS. The 26 RBIs tied her with Costello for the team lead.

Kahlyn Manns Temperance Caudill Kaitlyn Threlkel Malaynie Costello Minda Shriver

Manns, a senior center fielder, hit .395 with 16 RBIs and an .89

9 OPS. Caudill, a junior left fielder, hit .357 with two homers and 20 RBIs and a .902 OPS.

Threlkel, a junior catcher, hit .461 with three homers and 17 RBIs. She had 11 extra base-hits and a 1.264 OPS. She also had only two errors behind the plate.

Costello, a sophomore infielder, hit .349 with three homers and 26 RBIs. Her three homers tied her with Threlkel for the team lead, and her 26 RBIs tied her with Bussard for the team lead. She also went 3-3 with a 6.82 ERA as Valley’s No. 2 pitcher.

Shriver, a freshman first baseman-second baseman, hit .239 with two homers and 12 RBIs and a .772 OPS.

Valley went 15-10 overall and 6-4 in the INSC. They were one of three teams in the conference to win a sectional title. The season ended with a 1-0 loss to visiting John Glenn in a regional June 2.

Jimtown won the conference with a 9-1 record.
