The girls golf sectional which hosted Rochester, Caston, Pioneer and Winamac has moved from Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello to Dykeman Park Golf Club in Logansport, according to the IHSAA fall bulletin.
The IHSAA moved Rochester from the Warsaw sectional to this sectional prior to the 2022-23 school year. Rochester finished second behind Kankakee Valley in 2022 and 2023, and they won the sectional last year. The sectional field will remain the same, but they will have to adjust to a new course.
The Rochester girls last competed at Dykeman Park for the sectional in 2006. The team of Erin Puckett, Britni Posthuma, Kelsi Posthuma, Sadie Martens and Chelsea Gohn shot a 381 and finished third.
Rochester was moved to the Warsaw sectional in 2007.
The boys sectional featuring the same schools is typically held the first Friday in June at Dykeman Park.
“I don’t think our girls have played at Dykeman very much,” Rochester coach Dan Bailey said. “And at least our top three were very comfortable at Tippecanoe Country Club. So we’re going to try to get down to practice at Dykeman and try to get some practice rounds in after school. But everybody else is in the same boat. I guess it’s a positive thing for Logansport to host at their home course, but I don’t know that it’s going to be better one way or the other. It will be a little closer drive, which will be nice.”
