Argos 4, Wabash 0 (Tuesday): Elaina Conklin, Alexa Urednick, Harper Ripley and Haley Shafer had one goal each, and the Argos defense held Wabash without a shot on goal in a Class 1A, Sectional 36 quarterfinal win at Culver Tuesday.
Leah Pizzuto had two assists, and Conklin added an assist.
Ripley’s goal was the first of her career.
Meanwhile, Argos limited any offensive opportunities for Wabash, according to coach Ty Adley.
“The Dragon midfield and defense continued to shine throughout the match, winning the ball quickly and consistently turning those possessions into opportunities in the Argos offensive third,” Adley said in a statement.
Conklin’s goal came on a right-footed finish with 34:41 left in the half.
Urednick’s goal came after Wabash deflected a shot inside the 18.
Ripley, a freshman, chased down a Conklin pass that deflected off a Wabash defender.
Argos will play North Miami, a 1-0 winner over Peru in Tuesday’s other quarterfinal, at 7 p.m. today in the semifinals.
Argos beat North Miami 5-0 on Sept. 12 in their Hoosier North meeting.
