Argos edges John Glenn, loses to Hanover Central at Argos Invite

ARGOS — The Argos girls soccer team went 1-1 and finished in second place at the Argos Invitational at Eugene Snyder Field Saturday.
Argos won their first-round game over John Glenn 2-1 before losing to Class 2A, No. 11 Hanover Central 6-1 in the final.
Argos is 3-3 on the season.
Freshman Hayna Willis scored Argos’ lone goal in the final, scoring from long range through traffic with 12:40 left and cutting Hanover Central’s lead to 5-1. By then, the running clock was in effect per the IHSAA Mercy Rule.
Kiara Desiderio scored four goals, and Skylar Ferry scored twice for the Lady Wildcats, who improved to 5-0. Desiderio has 14 goals for the season.
Hanover Central had a 14-6 advantage in shots on goal.
In the third-place game, John Glenn blanked Fort Wayne South Side 8-0.
In the first round, Ellie Bollenbacher and Willis scored as the Lady Dragons rallied from a 1-0 deficit to beat John Glenn.
Bollenbacher scored the equalizer on a header off an Ivy Stackhouse assist in the 47th minute. Lilly Hines had the assist on Willis’ go-ahead goal.
Argos finished with a 14-10 advantage in shots on goal.
The other first-round matchup saw Hanover Central beating Fort Wayne South Side 10-0.
