The Argos School Board approved the hiring of Brian Jennings as its new girls basketball coach at a meeting Monday.

Brian Jennings previously coached the Rochester girls from 2018-22, guiding the Lady Zs to a Three Rivers Conference title in 2020 and Class 2A sectional titles in 2020 and 2021. He compiled a 54-39 overall record.

He was an assistant coach at Plymouth during the 2022-23 season. He did not coach in 2023-24.

Jennings replaces his brother Scott, who stepped down after a four-year stint as coach. Scott Jennings went 49-46 during his tenure, winning a Hoosier Plains title in 2022 and back-to-back sectional titles in 2022 and 2023.

Scott Jennings is a 1982 Argos grad. Brian Jennings, the youngest of John and Joy Jennings’ five sons, is a 1986 Argos grad.

Other Jennings brothers include Steve, a 1972 grad; Bruce, a 1974 grad; and Doug, a 1979 grad. All five brothers played basketball at Argos for coach Phil Weybright.

Whitney Jennings, the 2014 Miss Basketball from Logansport who played collegiately at Iowa and Butler, is Doug Jennings’ daughter and Brian and Scott’s niece.

Argos will lose RTC Co-Player of the Year Samantha Redinger, who led the state in scoring at 29.7 ppg, and forward Aleasia Sarver to graduation, but guards Morgyn Barcus and Alydiah Leed and post player Ellie Bollebacher are expected to return.

Argos will move from the Hoosier Plains to the Hoosier North for 2024-25.
