Argos held hitless in sectional final loss to South Central

The Argos softball team was held hitless in a 16-0 loss in five innings to No. 5 South Central (Union Mills) in the Class 1A, Sectional 50 final at LaCrosse Saturday afternoon.

Allison Zahm pitched the first three innings and allowed nine hits and 11 runs while walking four and fanning one. Aleasia Sarver pitched two innings and allowed six hits and five runs in relief.

Argos finished 6-14. South Central improved to 20-6 and will host Morgan Township in a regional game Wednesday.

South Central has won 17 sectionals in their history and has won the sectional the last eight times it has been played. South Central also won sectionals in volleyball and girls basketball in 2021-22.

The Lady Satellites have not lost a sectional softball game since 2013.

South Central came into the game with 39 home runs on the season. They rely on pitchers Lexi Johnson, a freshman, and Lauren Bowmar, a senior. Senior Delanie Gale leads South Central with 11 home runs.

South Central won their semifinal game 12-0 in five innings over Triton on Thursday while Argos played immediately following their 11-6 win over Culver in their semifinal earlier Wednesday.
