Valley’s Egolf, Caston’s Zimpleman named honorable mention

The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association has named Argos’ Samantha Redinger and Caston’s Isabel Scales to its Senior Small School All-State team.

Redinger led the state in per-game scoring average with 29.8 points per game, and she also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 3.5 steals per game. She had previously been named Hoosier Plains Conference Player of the Year and won the IBCA Player of the Week award for District 1 twice during the season.

Scales led Caston in scoring (15.2 ppg), rebounding (8.8 rpg), assists (3.7 apg) and tied for the team lead in steals (3.9 spg). 

Scales led Caston to a 23-3 overall record and a 7-0 Hoosier Plains record. Caston won the Cass County and Miami County invitationals as well as conference, sectional and regional titles.

The sectional title was the school’s first since 1985, and the regional title was the school’s first ever.

Redinger and Scales were two of 15 players statewide to receive this honor.

In addition, Ava Egolf of Tippecanoe Valley and Addison Zimpleman of Caston were named to the Senior Honorable Mention list.

Egolf led Valley with 13.5 ppg and 5.8 rpg. She also averaged 1.6 apg and 2.6 spg. Valley went 19-4 on the season before falling to Bremen in the Class 3A, Sectional 18 final.

Zimpleman averaged 13.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.7 apg and 2.8 spg for the Lady Comets.

They were two of 89 players statewide to make honorable mention.
